Walker Head is Durham's largest law firm. Founded in 1980, we provide comprehensive services across multiple areas of law, including family, estates, civil, employment, real estate, and corporate law. Our lawyers are recognized as Certified Specialists by the Law Society of Ontario and are regularly invited to speak at continuing education programs and industry events.

We are committed to giving back to the community. Throughout the year, our firm proudly participates in and sponsors charitable events, conferences, and other initiatives that benefit Durham Region, including programs led by local shelters.

Our head office is in Pickering, just off Highway 401, with a second office in Oshawa across from the Courthouse.

Articling & Summer Student Program

At Walker Head, you will work alongside experienced lawyers, benefit from mentorship and gain exposure to a diverse range of practice areas. We are dedicated to creating an environment where you can thrive professionally, develop your skills, and build a rewarding career.

Each year we hire two summer students to receive mentorship in different practice areas within the firm. The summer program usually runs from May to August.

Our Articling program provides students with a two-month rotation with each of the five departments within our firm, totaling ten months. The departments include real estate, family, corporate, estates, and civil/employment. Articling students will participate in client interviews, attend hearings, and draft pleadings and other material to prepare them for the world of a practicing lawyer. They will also have the opportunity to attend or shadow at mooting events and presentations attended by our lawyers.

Students will be entitled to vacation time and a comprehensive benefits package including extended health benefits and dental.
